Award Context

Recognition tied to organizational goals and values reinforces the behaviors and achievements that contribute to the success of the school system. In addition, recognized employees are more likely to recommend their workplace to others, and, incorporating a well-rounded employee recognition program can lead to a happier, more engaged workforce, improved retention rates, and a positive impact on work culture.

The FCPS 5-Star Service Award is designed to provide recognition by community members to employees for excellence in one of the 5 FCPS goals. Any community member can nominate a current FCPS employee.

SELECTION TIMELINE AND NEXT STEPS

Nominated candidates will be reviewed by representative staff from the Office of the Chief of Staff, Human Resources, and Public Affairs, on the 15th and 30th of each month.

Cabinet members from relevant offices are informed of selected award recipients prior to their notification.

Once selected and approved, the Chief of Staff's office will make the certificate and send the name of the winner to the communications manager in public affairs to include in the monthly employee news.

Selected awardees will be notified by email and a copy sent to their supervisor.
